I've been looking for a vacuum for a while to replace my cheap old dirt devil that left all sorts of visit lint and threads behind...and who knows what less visible dirt! A vacuum is a very uninspiring purchase for me, though, so I needed a good enough deal to actually motivate me to spend my hard-earned money. Most important to be was to find one that was well-rated, to make sure it would get the job done. While I was willing to buy a bagged version to keep the price down, I wasn't very excited about it. When this came up on a one-day special for under 0, it fit the criteria and the fact that it was bagless got me to take the leap. As an added bonus, it also has the retractable cord, which makes it far more convenient. I've only had it for about a month and haven't used the attachments extensively, but I've been very pleased at how well it does the job on my carpet. The canister is big enough that I haven't had to empty it yet, but I have tested the mechanism and it is indeed simple. It's also powerful enough that, when vacumming my walk-in closet, I've gotten into trouble with stray shoe laces being picked up and trying to suck in the entire shoe- definitely not a problem I had with my old vacuum! I haven't used it yet on any hard surfaces and can't speak yet to durability, but at this early stage, the Hoover Elite Rewind Bagless has delivered on my basic needs- a vacuum that will reliably keep my carpet clean with minimum muss and fuss.

We bought our Hoover about a month ago. We love it. We knew our old vacuum wasn't doing a great job, so we decided to get a new one. We were almost disgusted by how much the new vacuum was picking up. We have lived in our new house for over two years, the new vacuum is picking up the "new carpet fluff", which our old vacuum should have been doing all along. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a new vacuum, especially ones with shedding pets!
