Great Price "Eureka 4711AZ Maxima Bagless Upright Vacuum" for $67.60 Today
I bought this vacuum based on the reviews here and its very modest price. I use it once a week or more for my apartment carpets. I don't know how it takes heavy duty use. Several reviewers complained it is not very robust with heavy use. In addition to being light weight, the brushes pull it along. It really could use a brake sometimes! The on-off button would be more convenient near the top than down near the motor. The hose does easily come out of its resting place, unless you screw it in tightly! Then, I seldom have a problem. Perhaps its biggest design fault is that the exhaust air comes out the front, blowing light things out of the way of the pick up! Actually, this doesn't seem to be a big problem for me. The suction seems as powerful as my more expensive heavier Eureka Boss vacuum, which is very poweful indeed. If you want a light duty low cost bagless self-moving strong vacuum, this is, on the whole, a good choice. Just make sure you screw that hose into its socket tight, so it won't pop out.

Eureka 4711AZ Maxima Bagless Upright Vacuum Specifications
Lightweight and inexpensive yet solidly constructed, the Eureka 4711AZ Maxima offers an excellent value in a full-size upright vacuum. The cheerful yellow unit is easy to push and maneuver, offers powerful, 12-amp suction, and even uses micro-filtration to capture dust mites, pollen, and pet dander for cleaner, healthier indoor air, whether you have allergies or not. Like other bagless models, the Maxima eliminates the expense and hassle of disposable vacuum cleaner bags, using instead an easily accessible, easily-emptied dirt cup that's transparent so you can see when it's full. On the downside, the filter needs to be cleaned often, especially if you have pets, but this is also common with other bagless models. In the case of the Eureka Maxima, there's only one filter to clean and it's easily washable, simplifying the process considerably.
The Maxima also comes fully loaded with onboard tools: a crevice tool for corners and baseboards, dusting brush for upholstery and blinds, an extra-long, nested extension wand for added reach, and Eureka's unique Power Paw. This handheld attachment features a powerful brushroll to remove ground-in dirt and pet hair; its "Riser Visor" shield flips up and down to convert from vertical to horizontal cleaning on surfaces from stairs to upholstery. The addition of this feature makes the Maxima4711AZ the unit to buy if you have a lot of carpeted steps to clean. All of these tools attach to an integrated large-diameter hose designed to resist clogging and help keep the unit from tipping when it's pulled. (The hose detaches rather easily, but this comes in handy in case it does need to be cleared.) A grip on top near the base aids in cleaning stairs or upholstery, while the handle lowers almost flat to vacuum under low furniture. Other features include a powerfully bright headlight and a five-position manual height adjustment for cleaning surfaces ranging from hard floors to deep pile. Weighing in at just 14-1/4 pounds, the Eureka 4700A maxima measures 15inches wide by 12 inches long by 42-1/2 inches tall; it is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Mary Park

The More It Sucks, the More It Sucks - Pen Name -
I've had the Eureka Maxima 4711 for the past 3-4 years, and while it's done an OK job during most of that time, it has never been what I would call a "great" vacuum cleaner (I don't know if the 4711AZ is any different from the 4711, which is what I have).
I WILL give it high marks for being bagless, which not only makes it easy to empty the contents when full, but is probably more cost-effective and environmentally sound than using bags. Bagless VCs also eliminate the hassle of trying to figure out what kind of bag to use in the machine and what to do when the store doesn't have the bag you need.
Like I said, most of the time it's fine. Here's why I'm giving it only three stars:
(1) As a previous reviewer commented, the hose keeps slipping out of the base. This is extremely annoying! There's no latch or anything to secure the hose -- you just shove it into a hole in the base and hope it stays in while you're vacuuming. That hope is dashed all too often.
(2) It has an auto shutdown that seems to be triggered by the smallest things. Each time the auto shutdown is triggered, you have to wait at least a half-hour before you can use the thing again.
(3) The suction ain't great. You often have to run the machine over the same spot several times before it picks everything up. And sometimes instead of picking something up, all it does is spit it out somewhere else on the floor. I think the suction might have been stronger when I first got the machine but it seems to have weakened over the years (hence the title of my review). It definitely doesn't seem like it's designed to last years and years. Oh, and forget using this on cat hair. I had a friend with two cats stay at my place for a while and the machine kept shutting down when trying to pick up all that hair.
Of course, it's probably silly to expect top-of-the-line results at bargain-basement prices. I think I'll go for something a little higher-quality next time, even if it means having to pay a little extra...
